I'm back, Badger Fans!

After an extended absence, due in large part to my new-fangled (read: crazy busy) job, I am pleased to announce that the Cricket Project is back on. 2012 will mark Cricket's 3rd year in existence, and my first year with a new mission: to improve the quality of my family's life.

Cast List

In this, the blog that is my life, thoughts, and observations, you are likely to encounter various people who frequent my daily existence. Though very real, these people have been given stage names to protect their anonymity. Let's meet them, shall we?

Otter

My better half, the cream in my coffee, the apple of my eye, and a host of other sickeningly sweet metaphors for my one true schmoofy. Since 2004, this studly hunk of a man has graced the pages of the book of my life. Otter's name is a direct result of his obsession with fishing. So pleased is he to be on a lake hunting for fish that he is apt to dive in and catch one with his teeth, then swim around on his back, clutching it between his paws with pride. Plus, he is just so stinkin' cute that he deserves to be named for a small, woodland creature (like Chipmunk or Bunny); as I do not want to completely shatter his manhood, Otter seems an acceptable compromise.

Cricket

Cricket came into my life at 4:35 p.m. on Monday, December 28th, 2009. Named for the peeping and chirping noises she is so fond of making, Cricket's favorite activities include sleeping, eating, pooping, chewing on her fists, and any combination of the aforementioned activities. She is, in a word, breathtaking. My heart and soul in a Carter's onesie.

Cheesy Poof

My ineffable best friend in the world, Cheesy Poof and I are cut from the same cloth. The product of two startlingly similar disfunctional mothers, we are card-carrying Daddy's girls, and damn proud of it. Poof gets her name from that popular women's hairstyle where the bangs are gathered, back combed, doused with Aquanet, then pinned in a micro-beehive just above one's forehead. This hairstyle was our undoubted favorite for quite some time, and remains in our Hairdo Hall of Fame.

The Dogs

We have four. On purpose. A big ol' pack of rescue critters, and they each have more personality in one little due claw than most people have in their entire bodies. There's Sugar, our Jack Russel Terrorist who believes she's a cat; Short Bus, the blonde mutt who shares his toys and eats the trash; Goober, the rottweiler mix so obsessed with Otter that he sleeps wrapped up in his boxers; and Doctor Lecter, the old as dirt, crabby blue heeler that seems to be picturing you naked most of time.
